“If you don’t use it, you lose it”
More recent research has proven that exercise reduces the Falls Rate in community for those over 60years of age.
108 randomised controlled trials (RCTs) conducted in 25 countries, involving 23,407 participants, of which 77% were an average female age of 76years.
The falls were reduced by 23% with a regime of gentle, but specific exercises.
Balance and functional tasks
Balance and functional exercises, with resistance training
3-dimentional training eg Tai Chi
Trials led by professionals ie Physiotherapists resulted in a greater reduction in falls rate, than non-professionals, such as fitness trainers. Thank goodness we have some purpose….and an edge….

“If you don’t use it you lose it” has been my mantra for many years. I treat mostly elderly and vulnerable people, so my main job is to advise them as much as possible to do their exercises…
Prevention is key……Prophylaxis is all important…is it not so much harder to treat an injury, rather than prevent one….
Please dear people hear me…..
